In 5-years 16gb will be the entry level position... 32gb will be the level one upgrade and 64gb will be more common.

As your main system its a no brainer, you need 32gb i7, and remember the GPU is also better.

It's free anyway if it's your main business tool so buy the best!

Hi all, I am looking at the new15 inch macbook pro 2018 to replace my 2015 13 inch model. I am a cardiologist specilizing in cardiac imaging and osirix my main image processing system. will 32 GB 2.6 Gz I7 be vastly better than 2.2/2.6 Gz but 16 GB ram?. I plan to keep the laptop for about 5 years
thank you

You cannot get enough RAM.  The more the better.  And you, nowadays, have to order it with the Mac - it is not addable in the future.
