An idea I had to source more data for this question is look at google maps popularity data. I screenshotted and aggregated the photos for walmart, menards, and lowes (see attached). The assumption is when these stores are most busy, most people are available to visit the tool library.
The results show the busiest days in order are Saturday, Sunday, and Friday with the rest being roughly equal. The most popular four hour window on the weekend is 11am-3pm. Weekdays are much more flat with Walmart typically peaking at 4pm and the other stores peaking at noon.
Given these results and the objective to be available for not just the most people, but also a broad range of schedules, I think we should adopt a schedule that:
- Is open during peak hours on the weekend (late morning to early afternoon)
- Is open on at least one week day after 4pm
Im eager to see how the public survey results compare and to incorporate any findings to the schedule proposal above.
