Egyptian culture is like a sandstone obelisk in the foundations of
world history, and I'm tired of not being able to understand all the
Egyptian exhibitions I've seen. So, I just started learning Egyptian
Hieroglyphics from a wonderful self-study guide, and I was wondering
if anyone wants to learn them with me!
The book is "How to Read Egyptian Hieroglyphs" by Mark Collier and
Bill Manley, revised edition. It's written for beginners but intended
for serious studies, and filled with real examples from the British
Museum. Each chapter introduces aspects of the language, glyphs and
words, and then extensive exercises.
I want to form a mailing list where we can discuss our progress, share
more examples, and collaborate on translating some larger pieces. We
would work through the book over the next two months.
Email me to join and forward at will!
Thanks.
