LGPL was selected by the legal department of the Ames Lab, which funded (and
continues to fund) both projects. I can't speak for Ames Lab, but I imagine the
decision was based on legal precedence.

Doug is the Ames Lab rep on the list, so I'll let him address the feasibility of
an exception or spacial case license.

I will continue to review how others with the LGPL work with static linking. We have no problems with static linking of osgBullet libraries.
