Hi,
I'm interested in using OsgBullet for an iPhone app I am building.
Apple does not allow you to dynamically link to libraries, you may
only statically link to them.
This is not a problem for OSG since it is licensed under OSGPL which
allows for this.
I can understand why you didn't choose Bullet's original license
(zlib) for OsgBullet, you'd rather see all updates make it back into
the original, but why is OsgBullet/OsgWorks licensed under LGPL
instead of OSGPL?
Is there any way to obtain a license for OsgBullet/OsgWorks that
allows for static linking?

Thanks,
Bryan

LGPL was selected by the legal department of the Ames Lab, which funded (and
continues to fund) both projects. I can't speak for Ames Lab, but I imagine the
decision was based on legal precedence.

Doug is the Ames Lab rep on the list, so I'll let him address the feasibility of
an exception or spacial case license.

Here is something that might be of use:

I will continue to review how others with the LGPL work with static linking. We have no problems with static linking of osgBullet libraries.

We will probably do something similar to this:

Hi,
I'm happy to hear that you are open to this. An exception like the
FLTK link you provided would be great.
That should clear the path for osgBullet usage on the iPhone and iPad.
Looking forward to the license update.

Thanks,
Bryan
