Greetings,

I am trying to set various properties of a sound with osgAudio, but I
can't seem to figure out exactly what each property means. Can
someone provide me with a brief explanation of what the following
actually control?

Rolloff Factor,
Reference Distance,
Max Distance

Max distance seems obvious enough but no matter what I set it to, the
sound plays the same volume at the same positions....it does not seem
to actually cut off the sound past any particular radius.

Also, do all of the SoundState properties work as expected with FMOD,
or are some un-implemented? I ask because reading through some of the
source code it appeared that some of the osgAudio controls were not
compatible with how FMOD works.

Thanks.

Hi Matt -- I haven't used any of those members myself, so to answer your
question I'd have to dig through the source. But presumably you've already done
that, so I doubt I'd be much help. Are you seeing them ignored in both FMOD and
OpenAL?

Chris might be able to tell you about the mapping of osgAudio functionality to
FMOD, but he just got back from a trip and is catching up on email, so give him
a little time.

Paul,

I have not tried with openAL because it seemed to require a number of
dependencies that I did not want to mess with. I was trying to
minimize possible problems in the building and linking process by
going with FMOD.

Is there any reason to believe that FMOD is significantly less
functional than openAL - to such an extent that this may be a result
of FMOD and not osgAudio itself?

And I'll look forward to any information Chris can provide on the
topic.

Thanks.

The main testing I did with the FMOD compliance was the osgAudio example programs. Do
they exhibit the functionality you're looking for? Does it work there?
