Seems to be a paucity of osg-users email over the past few hours. I've made a couple of posts that haven't appeared.

Robert, Jose, any idea what's up? Anything we can do to help?

HI Paul,

You are emailing osg-...@lists.openscenegraph.org I hope?

Robert.

Yes, and the last post I saw was about 4 hours ago. Two posts I've made
during that time have not appeared, as far as I can tell.

hi robert, it's not just his emails - i haven't seen a single email
since 7:57 AM eastern today. that's a rare lapse in osg traffic.
possible, i'm sure, but unusual.

Interesting... One of the two posts I made to osg-users this morning just
appeared in my inbox moments ago. It is the only osg-users traffic I've seen
in 4.5 hours.

I'm still seeing evidence that the list and/or server isn't operating
optimally:

1) Just received a post from Mike Weiblen (subject: "osg at Siggraph") with
a date stamp 6 hours earlier than I received it.
2) Overall osg-users traffic is a trickle of what it normally is (maybe
everyone's on vacation?)
3) I posted a message with subject "test" at 22:13 UT; it is now 1/2 hour
later and it hasn't appeared in my inbox yet.

Not sure what the explanation is.

Hi Paul,

It does concern me that the Dreamhost server is overly contended, it
might be with a community the size of the OSG's that its just isn't
able to handle sending out all the posts, along with all the other
services that that same shared server provides.

I'd suggest waiting to see if things settle down, if they don't I can
contact Dreamhost and ask. It may be that we might have to up the
service level to a less contended server, this does more pennies
though.

Robert.

Just FYI, that email I sent at 22:13 UT (on 25 July) still hasn't appeared
in my inbox, and it's now 12:47 UT the next day. So rather than settle down,
things appear to be getting much worse.

Oh, I also wanted to add a couple comments to this.

It seems that the issues I'm seeing can't be explained by a busy server. I
think something else is to blame. Not sure what, though.

On the other hand, if it is an overly-contended server and you need to
upgrade, I'll point out that free email lists on Google appear to be working
just fine. It lacks some benefits though such as the ability to import
mailman archives, and other issues.
