DEMAND NO WAR ON SYRIA!!!

This weekend:  Bay Area CodePink calls on San Francisco to RISE UP and  Occupy Congress before the missiles start flying!  Let's set the streets on fire and demand PEACE!

                          NOT ONE MORE WAR, NOT ONE MORE LIE!!!

The lies are running rampant as our government prepares for one more war on a muslim nation.

But, with over 100,000 Syrians dead from a civil ("proxy") war, and 2 million refugees displaced, more missiles can only mean more suffering and casualties.  Thousands more are fleeing daily to escape imminent attack by the U.S.  We must not add fuel to the fire!!!

All top Democratic leadership are beating the war drum for Obama.  Senator Boxer just voted yes in the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Sept. 4.  Congresswoman Pelosi and Senator Feinstein are already calling on military action against Syria.   Hope:  The British Parliament recently voted an astounding NO to strikes on Syria thanks to hefty pressure from the British public.  The UN says NO Strikes!

                                   The Brits declared:    

"AMERICANS  PUT A LEASH ON YOUR GOVERNMENT!!!"

San Franciscans:   JOIN CODEPINK this weekend to put pressure on Congress:

"OCCUPY CONGRESS:   NO WAR ON SYRIA!!!"

FRIDAY:  Sept. 6,  Rally, 4:30-6:00pm,  Market & Montgomery

SATURDAY:  Sept. 7, noon.  S.F. March and Rally in Solidarity with Mass Protest at Capitol in DC.  Gather at Chelsea Manning Plaza (near Ferry Bldg.)

Join A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition and friends.

After Saturday's large downtown rally and march, 

CODEPINK's OCCUPY CONGRESS ACTION BEGINS!  

        (In solidarity with the mass protest planned at the Capitol in DC, actions take place at Congressional homes of Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Feinstein in S.F.)

Join one or more of these planned actions:

Saturday, Sept. 7:

3:00pm (estimate):   

"NO WAR ON SYRIA"  MARCH  to "OCCUPY CONGRESS,"  

Gather after the larger downtown march/rally is completed.  

Wear black/mournful attire, or come as you are;  

death masks, drums, pots & pans encouraged.  

We will process through the streets of SF. to the home of Nancy Pelosi, passing through diverse communities as we go.

Expect a 3 mile walk.  Or take a bus/car to meet us at Pelosi's House:

2640 Broadway (between Divisadero and Scott)

About 4:30-6:30pm:   2 hour protest outside Pelosi's home,  We will hang messages for the Congresswoman on a "Humanitarian Tree" detailing what true humanitarian actions look like:  FOOD NOT BOMBS, MEDICINE NOT BOMBS, REFUGEE SUPPORT NOT MISSILES, Negotiation and Diplomacy not warfare, etc. etc.  Bring musical instruments, art supplies.  

6:30-7:30pm:  Short march to Senator Feinstein's Home:  Lyon and Vallejo St.

7:30pm: "Occupy the CourtYard!" 

 Set up tents to Occupy for Peace, bring banners, signs and decorations for tents and courtyard.  Bring potluck food and drinks to share.  Bring tents, sleeping bags and pads for comfort!  (Make your own arrangements to get tents and supplies to Feinstein's).

Sunset:  PEACE WITH SYRIA Encampment.

                Candlelight vigil begins  (candles needed), instruments welcome.

Sunday:

8:00-10:00am:   Distributing flyers to Pacific Heights neighborhood, urging them to call congress:     VOTE NO WAR ON SYRIA.....DIPLOMACY NOT MISSILES!

Rally for the People of Syria in the courtyard, and leave messages for Sen. Feinstein:  Let's clean our own backyard first:   Close Gitmo, End Indefinite Detention, Disarm all Nuclear Weapons, Ban Cluster Bombs and Land Mines and Ground the Drones!!!  Stop Human Rights Abuses at home.

10:00 am:   March from Feinstein's home to Golden Gate Bridge.

                      (or just meet us at the bridge)

Noon:   CodePink Peace Walk on the Bridge.   

March in Solidarity with the People of Syria.  

Start at S.F. or Marin end of the eastern (bayside) walkway, converge in the middle.

Bring  signs (preferrably heartshaped):

NO WAR ON SYRIA

MEDICINE NOT BOMBS

FOOD NOT BOMBS

REFUGEE AID NOT MISSILE STRIKES

DIPLOMACY NOT DEATH
