Hi Folks,

On Friday, some of us met to discuss the most efficient path forward to continuing the work, and building a new leadership team. This discussion also included dialog within the technical committee, where the work continues.  In order to best facilitate that, a motion was passed to delegate decision making authority to the technical committee, and hibernate governance and exec for the time being.  This will allow the technical work to continue and dialog to create the kernel of a new leadership team to proceed.

In order to facilitate this, I've been appointed Secretary to manage logistics, and can serve as chair emeritus to bang the gavel as needed.  We'll continue to rotate chair pro tem as there is interest, and look forward to a new chair.

My hope is that we will arrive at a place where we have a team of leaders representing all of the the minorities and protected classes on an even playing field.  If you know someone who might be a good fit and is passionate about democratic, consensus based efforts, let me know.

I've put together a bullet list of guiding principles which has been a focus of ours from the start, and our vision, which you can feel free to pass along.

  1. Creating a level playing field for, customers with less resources, marginalized communities and smaller innovators (individuals and companies).
  2. People from marginalized communities who have a mindset that looks at problems from all sides and respects all protected classes.
  3. Maintaining a fair, democratic decision-making process that allows all progressive contributors and implementers to have a fair say in the evolution of the standard.  Similarly they should feel safe taking a dependency on the effort that won't be held hostage should they support a progressive but unpopular position or candidate.
  4. Working the membership pipeline to regrow the membership, and helping to drive adoption
  5. Digital/PR and keeping the OSDI community informed
  6. Maintaining the consensus based mission outlined in our whitepaper: http://opensupporter.org/whitepaper/
