Try try to type in http://www.quillpad.in/editor.html
You get to know features of quillpad
If we can add such application for desktop then it will be great Addon to GNU/Linux box.

There is indeed such an application for bengali phonetic typing called
Muktalekhaa.
http://code.google.com/p/muktalekhaa/
Although I would accept that the intuitive phonetic nature of Quillpad
is better than Muktalekhaa. In Muktalekhaa, i had to sometimes got
weird output while typing what comes to mind intuitively. This slows
down the typing. This needs to be improved. I may take up the task of
doing this. As for other Indic languages, I bet there are also good
tools, but they need to be brought under a common umbrella.

It is very difficult to type ब्रह्मचर्य using hindi phonetic. but quillpad made a easy task but at the same time, are we ready to corrupt our Hindi typing also ? because in quillpad, you can type ram and it can lead you  राम रॅम रम , So basically, one can type in any manner.

Ok, Let me tell the road map which one can follow

Step1 ) Use crowler to search on web. Unicode Hindi can be filtered.
Step2 ) Out of these filtered Hindi text, arrange all words into a array/table.
Step3 ) You can also find out all possible hindi words using http://www.shabdkosh.com

After That create a webinterface of a website, where visitor will get a unique hindi word and he as to make a common english language conversion. example
some user will translate ब्रह्मचर्य into brahmacharya and some brahmachary etc
So we have will be having a two way mapping into hindi and english words

Example RAM can   राम रॅम रम  and राम can Ram Rama and Rm.
When user will type something, we can fetch result from this database and give options. We can list probably what if 10 times user type ram , 8 times user want to type राम .
So over the period, this table will be more and more intuitive. After that we can add same database into a desktop based client to provide hindi typing using english layout.

But this problem can be solved if we teach kids how to type on "Hindi physical keyboard"

So you are basically speaking of an adaptive-learning Neural Network
system. It is possible of course. We should build a unified engine,
that can do it for multiple languages with the same code.

Yes, but using Human Computation - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human-based_computation

It is possible of course. We should build a unified engine,
that can do it for multiple languages with the same code.
