No they wont be deleted and stored in a private whatsapp directory. When you again Install whatsapp it will search for that content and if found you can reload all your contents with news version installed. And you do not have whatsoever any control on the messaged that you have already sent to other users they are stored locally on their side So just deleting your account does not make them vanish from other users device.

I have the exact same problem. I've been using Whatsapp on mac for the past 3 years, everything worked fine but after the update whatsapp notifications seemed to have disappear from system preferences.
Me too! I un-install and re-install back the Whatsapp app and I still don't receive any pop up notification message. But only when Whatsapp calls it does give pop up notification! I think it's a bug. My system preferences under notifications, Whatsapp app is not appearing there too!
If you are getting notification on your Mac from all other sources, except Whatsapp, it's not an Apple issue. It is a Whatsapp issue. Apple doesn't own Whatsapp. Meta (Facebook) owns Whatsapp and they need to fix whatever their issue is.
Hey Guys I found a simple solution to this issue, go to your user directory and toggle all hidden files using the command ( CMD + shift + . ) and automatically Whatsapp notification will start working back on.
As per my understanding, this has started since the new MacOS update. Now its either that the app is not able to get the access to the notification panel or there is some bug in the new OS update. I hope they fix it soon tho. hampering the workflow a lot.
Wow, that's BS on WhatsApp's part. Like others here, I have the same issue -- both on my Intel-based iMac and my M1 MacBook Air. WhatsApp notification was working fine before this latest version. This is totally a bug on WhatsApp.
I also used to get banner notifications, but rcently was not getting the same, I thought to reinstall it....deleted the previous app and same thing happened, it got deleted from system preferences also...
I have same issue here. After last update I've lost all kind of WhatsApp notifications in my MacBook. After reading some reply's I believe we must wait for a new release but meantime, we can all go back to WhatsApp web (which is not useful if you need to make any call, but we'll still get the notifications back)
I've been meaning to write for ages and finally today I'm actually doing something about it. It's tough being away from home over Christmas, though, and Skype on Christmas Day wasn't really the same as being with everyone.
From there I was on another three-month mission to oversee the set-up of the office in New York. Loved, loved, loved New York! It's like being in one big TV show, as everywhere looks just a little bit familiar. I did every tourist thing you can think of when I wasn't working, and must have spent most of my salary on eating out. I frequently use WhatsApp when I chat with friends, and sometimes other social media like Instagram or Facebook for commenting or reacting to their posts. Talking about importat news I share I would pick phone calls or even voice WhatsApp messages over the traditional wrtitten communication.
Usually, I will send a message to an old friend of mine. Currently I am living in UAE so messenger or instagram is our medium of communication. But, if both of us are free then I will call her or do a video call.
I personally wouldn't use e-mail with my friends, I only use it for work or university purposes. I'd rather just call or text them through whatsapp, since is a really common app in Brasil. I'd prefer meeting them in person, of course, but if we were so distant from each other as the friends in the story, whatsapp would be the solution for me. I also love letters, but it would feel a little bit old lmao plus is really expensive to send letters in Brasil :(
