Hello Occupy,
With Plastic Free July just around the corner, people around the world are preparing to reduce single-use plastic waste at home, work, school, and even their local café.
In this newsletter, we're excited to share some new resources to help spread the word as well as inspiring stories and solutions from around the globe. Small steps make a big difference, as together we take action for a world without plastic waste.

Plastic Free Pledge
Whilst some people start by choosing one single-use plastic to avoid by looking at their household waste, others find it useful to start with our new Plastic Free Pledge Pledge initiative and choose to avoid single-use cups, plastic drink bottles, or plastic food wrap. These “Top 3” are single-use plastic items we commonly use each day that there are often easy alternatives for.
Want to share a pledge? Simply download a pledge card and share a photo on social media so others can be inspired to take a step towards ending plastic pollution.

Ditching disposable cups
Many people are bringing a reusable cup whenever they leave home, some borrow one from a cup library, or the café, whilst others make time to stay and enjoy in their favourite café. Find out how people around the world are making the switch from disposables to reusables in their own lives, at work and in cafés - Bring, Borrow, Stay.

Keeping food fresh
Popular alternatives to plastic wrap include using reusable lunchbox containers with dividers for nuts, vegetable slices, baked goods and sandwiches. Many people simply place a plate upside down on a bowl of leftovers while others use repurposed glass jars. Consider reusing mushroom or bread bags to keep sandwiches fresh.

Free up space in your shower and reduce plastic by swapping shower gel and shampoo in plastic bottles for solid soap and shampoo bars. Shopping at markets and bulk food/health stores are great places to find these items. Some also offer liquid soaps and shampoo to refill your own bottles.
