Hey all,

I want to know if you can help us find a company to loan us a few new-
ish laptops to be used by speakers during Open Source Bridge.

In the past, for Ignite, Mac Force has loaned their training computers
in exchange for a sponsorship. They may not be able to do this for
Bridge due to the laptops being used for actual training, so I'm
hoping someone on this list has a contact at another company that
might be interested in this in-kind sponsorship opportunity.

Mac Store or MacPac (local Mac shops that might have some tips for us.
I know at least one has classes)? Also if we don't need that many
maybe we can go back to the Force and ask them for a few loaners
instead of all the training machines or something.

I have one ancient 512 MB Compaq Presario with a functioning 1024x768
display and freshly loaded with openSUSE 11.2 Milestone 2. It's
available, and I can load any Linux distro on it for anyone. I should
have donated it to FreeGeek months ago but I still have it if anyone
wants to use it.

I've never met a happy clam. In fact, most of them were pretty steamed.

Kelly (and others) --

Do you have any contacts at either Mac Store or Mac Pac?

Ed --

Thank you. If we need to borrow laptops directly from individuals,
I'll mention your offer to the content team. First, I'm going to
attempt to find multiple laptops of the same type, which would
probably make things easier on volunteers doing setup.

I talked George Swords from MacPac into going on StrangeLoveLive at
WebVisions. He might be a place to start... Mac Store I got nobody.
