I've deployed a fix tat adds UIDs to the OCW schedule. This field is
apparently required by some iCalendar clients, like 30boxes.com.

However, I've also run into a wall trying to debug why I can't use Gnome
Evolution with OCW.

I tell Gnome Evolution to subscribe to:
webcal://localhost:3000/events/2009/schedule.ics

But Gnome Evolution ignores me and instead visits:
http://localhost/events/2009/proposals

I know this because the log emits this log output during the visit:
Parameters: {"event_id"=>"2009", "action"=>"index",
"controller"=>"proposals"}
...
Completed in 0.71692 (1 reqs/sec) | Rendering: 0.69491 (96%) | DB:
0.00901 (1%) | 200 OK [http://localhost/events/2009/proposals]

I don't recall telling Gnome Evolution to visit the proposals URL and
there are no other calendaring clients running.

Either OCW is doing something wrong, or Gnome Evolution has a bug where
it cached some earlier value and is reusing it, or WTF?

I've got Evolution but don't use it. Can you point me to a sample ICS
file I can try?

BTW, I *do* use Google Calendar and I have to look up the ICS insert
directions each time I use an ICS file, but Upcoming and Calagator
both "export to Google Calendar" by clicking on a link just fine.

I've never met a happy clam. In fact, most of them were pretty steamed.

Hi, Igal,

This might be what was happening to me Wednesday evening. I am quite
certain I never told Evolution on that machine to visit the "proposals"
URL. I don't think it had visited any part of the opensourcebridge.org
site at all, although it may have visited the demo site.

However! The subscription I set up Wednesday evening (on the live site),
which was not pulling in any events at that time, is working now. Also,
when I subscribe to my favorites anew, it works. This is the URL I'm using:

webcal://opensourcebridge.org/users/21/favorites.ics

There is one change: Evolution is now asking me for my password in order
to load this calendar. My subscription to the full schedule feed is also
working.

Evolution is also crashing, though. Probably not OCW's fault, but I
mention it in case others run into this.

I tried using Gnome Evolution to subscribe to other, non-OCW feeds.
Sometimes it'd fetch the content immediately. Sometimes it'd see content
but lose it. Sometimes it'd never fetch content even if I told it to
fetch every minute.

When creating a new calendar, there's a checkbox that tells it to use a
username. However, in my testing, it never actually sent the username to
the server.

Anyway, it seems that Gnome Evolution is very buggy and that no one
using it could reasonably expect it to work with OCW or anything else.
Therefore, I'm giving up on Gnome Evolution's issues. If you encounter
bugs that affect other clients, please report them.
