You may have seen a rash of press releases on this topic from Ingres recently.

Our experience is that there is a lot of lip service to Open Source software at the enterprise & Gov’t level, but inertia or

even recommitment to proprietary software from MS & Oracle, SAP et al. 

I guess nobody got fired for wasting tax payers’ money with [IBM/MS/Ora/SAP/etc]

 

It’s disappointing to see that it’s even happening on our doorstep – e.g.,  Leeds City Council (a reported £15m over 5 years)
