found an interesting blog post about the Chinese Shanzhai - copycat /
hacking / producing+developing hardware - often viewed by America +
the West as illegal / infringing on IP.

Blog post talks of 'open BOM' - sharing bill of materials and design
materials used. Possible example of open source hardware development,
