Hi everyone,

Tonight will be another unofficial online social from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM (our standard meeting time). If you're new to the club, this is a great chance for you to find out more about what we do!

Next week, we'll start holding in-person meetings in Avery Hall 19, again during our normal time. Our first such meeting on Friday, Feburary 11 will be a crash course on shell scripting. Shell scripts are a quick-and-dirty yet powerful way of automating tasks on UNIX-like operating systems, and familiarity with common shell commands can give a huge boost to productivity.

This semester, we're planning to alternate between socials and informative meetings. The university recommends that groups continue to meet online, but since our group is smaller than most classes, we have decided that it should be safe to meet in person. As always, we will take the necessary precautions, and we will try to stream the event over Discord as well for those who can't or don't want to attend in person.

We hope to see you on Discord for the social tonight!

Sincerely,
Aaron Friesen
