Orugians,

Do you or any of your friends need to start learning Ruby on Rails? Next Thursday (September 9th) from 7 to 9 PM at CoLab Orlando will be a great opportunity.

We'll have free mexican food and networking at 6 PM, then starting at 7 PM Eric Allam and I will be teaching an Intro To Rails course entitled "Rails for Zombies". Rails for Zombies is unlike any other code training course you've ever been to. We have developed an application using Rails 3 that lets you try coding in Rails, without needing anything installed on your computer. All you'll need to bring is a laptop with Wifi, and craving to code.

To ensure you have a seat at the tutorial, please register in advance so we know we'll have enough seats

http://railsforzombies.eventbrite.com/ <--- don't worry it's free.

To prepare for the course, we highly recommend you spend some doing the 15 minute tutorial on http://TryRuby.org, so you can get familiar with the Ruby language.

Please help me spread the word, and see this map for parking options: http://bit.ly/3fpMmZ

Hey guys,

Rails for Zombies is TOMORROW at CoLab. 36 out of 40 people have registered, so there are only 4 seats left. If you registered please be sure you READ THE FOLLOWING:

1. You will need to bring a laptop with working WIFI to do the labs. This tutorial is about 30% presentation, 70% labs (in other words, you're going to learn).

2. You will need to have worked through the 15 minute tutorial on http://tryruby.org/, so you'll be familiar with the Ruby programming language.

3. We are making some limited edition Rails for Zombies T-shirts (See logos: http://bit.ly/aJ4PYX). If you enjoy the tutorial we'll be taking donations for the T-shirts (recommended donation ~$20). All donations will help pay for additional development for the purpose of eventually releasing Zombies publicly.

4. We have about 3 hours of content (slides and labs) for the tutorial. You're always welcome to duck out whenever you need to, but you should be aware that we will run through ALL the content until we get completed (which could be around 10 PM).

5. For directions and parking see here: http://bit.ly/3fpMmZ

If you'd like to park in the CoLab lot, you can download this flyer here: http://orug-announce.googlegroups.com/web/Parking-September-9th.pdf

6. If you get to the building and you find the front door locked, or the elevator not letting you up to the 6th floor, please call me: 407-754-5517.

7. We will have free Mexican food (and networking) starting at 6 PM, and the tutorial will be at 7 PM. If you show up at 7 PM, there probably won't be any food left, FYI.

I think that's all. Let me know if you have any questions, and see you tomorrow!
