Hey Folks,

Just a heads up for those of you who haven't switched over to the Meetup.com group.  This month's meeting is Thursday, June 14th at 7 PM and the topic is "Riak, Ripple, and Rails: Designing Apps for Eventual Consistency".  Pretty cool huh?

This month Bryce Kerley from Basho is going to do a talk on Riak, the open source database created by Basho.  Riak is a distributed, open-source, key-value store that scales to your needs simply and without downtime. If parts of your application are outgrowing relational databases, this talk will teach you how to redesign those parts to work inside the constraints of a distributed database.

Also, later this month Envy Labs is producing Code School Live (http://cslive.eventbrite.com), a 2 day technical training event for only $195 a seat.  The event will run Thursday, June 28th through Friday, June 29th and students will have the choice of two different tracks:

2 Day Intro to Ruby on Rails Track - Ruby on Rails is an open source web application framework that allows you to write less code to get more accomplished, yet maintain code quality.  Our course will leverage Code School's in-browser code editor to get students coding Rails rapidly and deploying their first application by the end of day one.

Prerequisites: To take this course you'll need familiarity with programming (any language) and HTML.

OR

2 Day CoffeeScript and Backbone.js Track - JavaScript is quickly becoming the most important language for web developers to understand, and there are certain tools needed to use it effectively.  In this track we will be teaching two of such technologies starting with CoffeeScript, a more efficient and readable language that compiles into JavaScript.  The second day will cover Backbone.js, which helps organize and structure client-side JavaScript to keep it maintainable.

Prerequisites: To take this course you'll need familiarity with JavaScript and a little jQuery.

Cost for Either Track: $195 (Early Bird Ticket through June 15th) .. Tickets and more info here => http://cslive.eventbrite.com

Where?
Envy Labs in downtown Orlando => http://bit.ly/envylabs

Why?
We are about to launch a tour of several big cities to bring our educational content to local regions of the United States (and International next year).  Typically the cost for these events will be >$600, but since Orlando is our hometown, we wanted to make this event VERY accessible.
