Dear Brothers and Fathers,

Protodeacon Aleksandr Plyska, the producer of the film, "Where are you, Adam?”, will be coming to Dallas/Fort Worth during the second week of Great Lent to show his film. This is essentially a documentary on the spiritual life filmed at Dochiariou Monastery on Mount Athos. It contains footage of the last months in the life of their beloved Abbot Archimandrite Gregory.

His Grace, Bishop Gerasim, saw this film in September 2024 in the Republic of Georgia, and was impressed with it. We will have a showing at St. Seraphim Cathedral in Dallas, on Saturday, March 7th, after Great Vespers.

If you would like to schedule a showing at your parish, his contact info is: pys...@gmail.com    or at   WhatsApp, Viber +380 992 908 691

Here is some further information about the film. It is one hour and twenty minutes long.

Your Grace, bless!
My name is Aleksandr Plyska.
I am a Protodeacon from Kyiv (Ukrainian Orthodox Church under His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy, confirmation attached) and the producer of the film “Where are you, Adam?” a documentary set in the ancient Monastery of Dochiariou on the western shore of Mount Athos.
I am currently in the United States and humbly seek Your Grace’s blessing to present this film within the parishes of your diocese.
I would be sincerely grateful for any guidance or assistance in arranging such presentations, so that this work may reach those it will spiritually benefit.

It would be a profound honor for me, as the creator of this work, to conduct the inaugural presentation with Your Eminence’s presence, which would lend spiritual significance to the event.

I am also prepared to travel and present the film in person, in order to provide a personal commentary.
Because of technical issues, projection of the film at the parish is only possible if I am personally there.
The technical provisions for such a personal presentation include:
•  I have a screen, 4 meters wide
•  I have a projector
•  I do not have a sound system

Parish or a group of parishes may also show it themselves without me by renting a theater at a local cinema.
To do this, please contact me to discuss the procedure and terms.

Please note that the film is not yet available for online viewing, as we are still touring and featuring it in local theaters and churches.
I am including reviews, church endorsements, and trailers for the film at the bottom of this page.
“Where are You, Adam?” has been translated into 22 languages, allowing its message of faith to reach audiences worldwide.

If you are interested, please contact me at:

pys...@gmail.com    or at   WhatsApp, Viber +380 992 908 691.

With sincere respect and prayers,

Protodeacon Oleksandr Plyska.

Fr. Patrick Tishel about the film“Where are you, Adam?” Allston, Massachusetts 🇺🇸 20/11/2025.

WHAT IS THIS FILM ABOUT?
"Where are you, Adam?" was filmed on Mount Athos in the Dochiariou Monastery during the life (and with the blessing) of the late abbot Archimandrite Gregory (Zumis).
This film is an intricate observation of the daily life of monks, their inner world and amazing perseverance in the place so unique that it seems not to be bound by time.
Humans immersed in prayer, work, trials, numerous difficulties and pains come out on the screen as they are without comments or interpretations.
Self-sacrifice and selflessness of the monks leave no one indifferent, so much so that the viewer goes through his own path of searching for answers to a very personal questions: "Where is my heart?", "Where am I now?", "Where is my mind?", which are consequently linked to one main question addressed to the whole humanity: "Where are you, Adam?"
In a sense, the film is a hymn to Faith, Orthodoxy and Monasticism, glorifying the holiness that can ultimately be achieved.

WHAT MAKES THIS FILM SO UNIQUE?
Just like a proper historical document, the film does not contain any acting or staged scenes, no pre-conceived lines and situations, no voice-over. The script evolves as a natural mosaic of the lives of the heroes glued together in one piece;
Devoid of any exaltation or propaganda whatsoever, the film offers a freedom of perception to anyone, regardless of religious, confessional, ethnic, or political views and interests;
The imposition of any ideas in the documentary is ruled out by design, in order to portray the life of monks and the monastery in all its depth and grandeur, thus allowing a viewer to live through his or her own personal spiritual experience.
While immersing himself in this atmosphere the viewer, unobtrusively led by his empathy, becomes not only a witness, but also a participant in the events, thereby doing some useful work inside his heart.

FILM SCREENING NUMBERS.
“Where are you, Adam?” was selected and included in the program of two ‘A’ List Film Festivals, accredited by FIAPF: ⁃ Kraków Film Festival, Krakow, Poland (Europe’s oldest in documentary) ⁃ Tallinn Film Festival “Black Nights” (PÖFF), Tallinn, Estonia.
The film was the winner at the the POKROV International Film Festival (Grand Prix), Kiev, Ukraine; the Festival of Christian Culture (Grand Prix), Zaječar, Serbia; the Greek International Film Festival tour of Canada “GIFFT of Canada” (Best Documentary).
