Preview Unsupported

Hi,

we're trying to set up a student project based on orthanc. The installation under debian is ok, upploading dicom objects works as well (via browser). But if we want to preview the pictures we get an "unsupported" message. Any ideas?

Hello,

Currently, Orthanc can only display DICOM images with a raw, uncompressed encoding (which is typically the case in images coming from the medical routine). JPEG and JPEG2k compression are not supported yet.

If you need to display such images, please use a dedicated DICOM viewer (such as Ginkgo CADx, medInria or 3D Slicer that all can connect to Orthanc through the Query/Retrieve mechanism).

If you need to develop image analysis algorithms, you can use GDCM or DCMTK in combination with Orthanc.

Hi,

if you are on a Mac, you could use Osirix to decompress the files.
Right click the patient's name > Export to Dicom File(s) > Decompress
all Dicom files. That should work for a smaller number of studies. If
you want to upload a larger number of images, I can share a script
with you that converts and uploads all the images automatically.

BTW, Peter, have you already tried to connect OsiriX to Orthanc through the Query/Retrieve mechanism? I would be very interested in knowing whether such a connection works.

Sure, OsiriX works great with Orthanc 0.7.2! I have not tried it with
0.7.3, however. I don't know when I'll be able to do it, but will
report back.
