Thanks for the timely response :). I was wondering if it is possible (I could not tell in the documentation) to prevent users from saving the chat logs on their own but still automatically record the chat messages in the cloud?

Hey, it was regarding your comment earlier. You said can enable auto saving of your meeting chat. Is it possible to increase how often it auto saves your chat? I think now its once every minute. Thanks!

Hi tommy
I need your help, i wanted to ask that can i see the chats or restore them or view them again after the lecture was over it was a chat sent on private chat by ajy chance can u help me its a serious issue

To access your chats on the Zoom web portal, click Recordings in the navigation menu and the Cloud Recordings tab. On this page, you can access the recordings of the meeting.

I noted the default save location of the Zoom chat text file before, but you can also change it if you want to. After opening the Zoom client, click on your profile picture and Settings. Here, click Recording. Click on the existing file location and click on Choose a new location. Now, you can select your preferred new file location!

If you want to search for old chats (up to one year old) based on time period or for a specific user, click on Account Management in the navigation menu in the Zoom web portal. Click on Reports, User Activity Reports tab, and Chat History. Here, you can search for chats based on time period and user! You can also download those chats as a CSV file. This only works with a Pro plan.

Adapting the answer by @MinseonShin. If the host of the meeting allows it, you can save the chat by clicking in the Zoom chat window the "..." icon, then "Save Chat", otherwise it seems not be possible. Then you should see a link to "Show in Folder".

If your installation is different, you find about the path as follows: you start a meeting (eg. using the personal meeting id) and record the meeting to your computer (not on the cloud), and then save recording and stop it. Now under Zoom > meetings > recorded you can find that recorded meeting. If you open it it opens a folder with that particular meeting. The meeting with the chat will not appear in the list of recorded meetings (unless you recorded it as well), but if you go up one directory you see all recorded meetings including the one where you saved the chat.

You can save the chat by clicking (in the Zoom chat window) the "..." icon, then "Save Chat"; then you should see a link to "Show in Folder", which is not working for me today for some reason -- it turns out that (on Ubuntu 20.04) the files are saved (in .txt format) in /snap/zoom-client/[###]/Documents/Zoom/[meeting date, time, name]. For me the [###] part is 166 or 167 but I could not figure out what it meant so I thought it may be different for different people. (See also this.)
