The animation program at the School of Art (SOA), part of the Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts (HIDA), is proud to announce the Spring 2024 Animation Showcase. Come see at least fifty-five seniors showcase their animations, which span the range of stop-motion animation, 2D animation, 3D animation and real-time animation utilizing video game engines.
For each project, students worked either collaboratively or solo over two semesters under the supervision of an animation faculty member to produce a narrative or non-narrative experimental short, working from ideation, conceptualization of storyboards and animatic to a finished product.
It is often performed at the end of an iteration (and known as a Sprint Review or Iteration Demo) but can be performed at key milestones in the life of the product and, indeed, can be scheduled at any time where feedback would be useful.
This provides a critical feedback loop for products being incrementally and iteratively built as stakeholders can feed back on the features as they are being built into the product, suggest improvements, new ideas for features and catch problems or defects with the product early.
Where possible avoid scripting the showcase give stakeholders/end users the ability to play around with the new product. Showcases should be as interactive as possible, aiding the team in collecting real world feedback
The showcase is particularly important in a remote delivery as it is the primary if not the only opportunity to show the value that has been delivered during the sprint in the absence of the team being co-located.
CCM set the standard for musical theatre training ... literally. CCM Musical Theatre was the first program of its kind in the US, and it continues to be a leader in the industry. A four-year bachelor of fine arts (BFA) program, it was used by the National Association of Schools of Theatre in formulating the guidelines for the accreditation of Musical Theatre programs nationwide.
The program provides professional conservatory training designed to help singers, dancers and actors become accomplished musical theatre performers. Students participate in a number of productions while in residence and create a freshman and a senior showcase, the latter functioning as their New York debut for agents and casting directors. In addition, students undertake courses in English, history, psychology, dramatic literature, social and ethical issues and the humanities.
The Schieffer College hosts its annual Schieffer Showcase each April on the first floor of Moudy South. Guests are invited to visit with undergraduate and graduate students to learn about their research and creative projects and videos. The Schieffer Research and Professional Development Committee recognizes outstanding projects with cash awards.
To showcase excellent work with others, to engage with others with similar interest, to network and to potentially earn a cash prize. All students and faculty who participate will receive a special Schieffer Showcase souvenir.
The Schieffer Research and Professional Development Committee will select the following awards among participants. Individuals contributing to each award-winning project will be receive a $100 gift, the latter to be shared among all project contributors.
We invite you to be part of the 6th Annual School of Engineering Research Showcase featuring poster presentations of School of Engineering research performed by faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and undergraduate, Master's, and Ph.D. students. Attended by industry partners, Silicon Valley researchers and engineers, campus affiliates, and friends of the School of Engineering, this showcase provides the School with an outstanding venue for research exposure while also affording students an excellent professional development and networking experience. Attendees will also be able to tour various labs within the SCDI complex.
Research participants are invited to share their research work through a poster presentation. Posters may describe any School of Engineering research conducted since June 2022. The research described may be at any state of development ranging from initial conceptualization to the completion of work. Posters should describe the research project using the practices and norms appropriate to professional research in their relevant engineering field. Poster authors must have been a student, fellow, and/or faculty member within the School at some point during the execution of the presented research. All authors are encouraged to be present for the event, but at least one author must be available for the duration of the Showcase in order to describe and answer questions regarding the research.
Awards will be presented based on a review by a panel of evaluators, with a final decision by the Dean of Engineering. To be eligible for an award, at least one student author must be present during the Showcase and be active in discussing their poster with attendees. Awards, unfortunately, do not include a cash prize of any sort.
The city of Los Altos, in partnership with GreenTown Los Altos and the Electric Automobile Association of Silicon Valley, is hosting the annual "Destination Electric: A Los Altos EV Showcase". This event is free and open to all community members.
The event will showcase the latest electric vehicles (EV), and give visitors the opportunity to chat with EV owners, test ride e-bikes, and gain valuable insights from home electrification experts. Additionally, representatives from 10+ organizations will be on site, with information about EV charging, financial incentives and rebates, home electrification, and related sustainability initiatives.
Get an up-close look at the latest electric cars, trucks, and SUVs: Ask questions, peek inside, and explore many of the features of electric vehicles. Get firsthand insight from actual owners who will share their experience with charging tops and cost-saving benefits.
Discover the joy of electric bikes: Test ride a variety of models and find the perfect fit for your lifestyle.
Consult with home electrification experts: Learn everything you need to know about charging an EV and electrifying appliances as well as financial incentives and cost-saving strategies.
This showcase will specifically highlight our Inequality Research Hub with poster presentations and videos across themes such as social justice, health disparities, stigma, and more. There will also be direct interactions with dozens of BSOS faculty researchers, where you will learn more about their work.
Like last year's successful Research Showcase, which focused on our Resilience Research Hub, this will be an immersive event focused on bringing our research hub to life. Come enjoy refreshments with colleagues from BSOS, other units on campus, funding agencies, foundations, and local/regional/and state government.
The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) as the world's largest professional society for medical informaticists has been taking an active role in helping the community identify oversight mechanisms to ensure the safe, effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in healthcare.
The AMIA AI Evaluation Showcase Series aims to select and present the current use cases in the field and form a community to help build consensus around best practice. The community and the curated best practice examples are expected to strengthen the thought leadership position of the AMIA community in the industrial standard understanding and setting.
Those who did not submit for Stage I and Stage II but still wish to participate in Stage III should follow the Stage I and Stage II submission guidelines to include the evaluation plan for all three stages and the result for all three stages. The best work will be considered for publication in JAMIA Open.
If your organization has AI/ML initiatives or departments, please help pass the CFP to your colleagues involved in those initiatives and departments. This year, we would like to extend our invitation to submit to our industrial partners who have been working in this area to join this ecosystem too. We would like to start the conversations in the community and collect best practice examples. Your help would be highly appreciated.
Scientific teams must commit to submitting work centered around the same solution to all three conferences and should designate a lead scientist for the team. Given the different nature of each conference and the types of expertise needed for each stage, authorship is expected to vary for each submission.
AMIA offers three ways to participate: submitting a paper, podium abstract, and poster proposals for Stage I and II deadlines. We envision submitting a final proposal providing a summary of the entire evaluation, in paper or podium abstract format.
We will attempt to give those scientists committing to and completing comprehensive evaluations to present at the various meetings. For all meetings, scientifically rigorous manuscripts and podium abstracts not incorporated into a scientific session will receive a poster presentation opportunity.
Domestic and international contributions to the showcase are welcome from AMIA members, non-members, and students from all informatics sectors. A separate Scientific Program Committee (SPC) will judge proposals and select presentations for a series of sessions and posters at the Informatics Summit, Clinical Informatics Conference, and Annual Symposium.
Fellow 2022 AMIA Scientific Program Committee (SPC) Chairs Laura Wiley (Informatics Summit), Rosemary Kennedy and Paul Fu (Clinical Informatics Conference) and I collaborated to create this first-of-its-kind cross-meeting AMIA program.
Through the generosity of SUNY Niagara faculty and staff, students will compete for prize money signifying the best project from each division, the most popular project based on votes from attendees of the Showcase, and the best overall project of the showcase.
Students will present their work as either a poster project, table project, art exhibition, or performance. In spring 2022, we added an online/Zoom project, a variation of the Poster project, for online students to participate. More details can be found on the Categories page.
