Hi all,

Here's a quick write-up for Netflix and Trill from Patrick. Sorry if you all already got this, the listserv was acting funny.

---

Netflix and Trill(ium) pre ride report 10/4/2026!

This is a beautiful route with very low traffic and a ton of great views. This route gets to Lolo Pass Rd the same way many Eastbound ORR routes do and there's nothing too concerning before then. At the intersection of Lolo Pass Rd and US 26 there is Zig Zag Mountain Cafe with water, coffee, bananas and a bathroom up the stairs. Across the highway is a Dollar General and more bathrooms at the Zig Zag Ranger Station. Make sure you have plenty of water and snacks. It took us ~3 hours to get to the next water spot.

Next you will climb Still Creek Rd. This is a great climb, take note of the potholes, the next time you see them you'll be going much faster. At the top of the climb you'll arrive at a large 'X' intersection, proceed straight. Soon you'll see Trillium Lake on your left for one of the best views on the route. Proceed through the parking lot and make your first right. (if you are low on water here, go into the campground before starting the loop!) You will do a loop. Unfortunately there are several forks on this loop that are not labelled. If you are not doing EPP I *strongly* recommend bringing a smart phone with the route loaded onto rwgps. If you have a gps choosing the correct fork is straightforward.

At the end of this loop you will arrive at the Trillium Lake Campground where you will find water and bathrooms. There are POIs for both on the map. I will call the ranger station the day before the ride to ask for current water status. Next you will make a short climb back around the north side of the lake.  You will come to the 'X' intersection I mentioned before and make a SHARP right turn and proceed back down Still Creek Rd.  Still Creek Rd is ripping, it's a super fun descent, just be safe!

This brings you back to Zig Zag where you can get some necessary treats and then enjoy a relaxing ride home back the way you came.

Alex and I did this on ~42mm tires. I wouldn't do less than a 40 unless you are prepared for some underbiking on the still creek descent.  +10 cool points but -25 safety points if you do it on 28s.

Wow, we're looking at 13 registrants for Netflix and Trill. For us that's a crazy huge turnout.

In case the headline wasn't clear from the prior messages, this is a new kind of route for ORR. Remote but with a Portland start, scenic, hilly, significant gravel sections. If there was ever a time to come on out to see what it's all about, this is it!

Get signed up before midnight. Looking forward to seeing you all Saturday.
