I've been having the Omen by HP 600 Gaming Mouse for quite a while now. but now the mouse is not working. i have the 2017 version of the HP Omen Gaming Laptop. the laptop will not show that the mouse is plugged in. sometimes it will turn back on but it will admeditatly turn back off. i would really really really really like to know how i can fix this issue. i have already tried restarting my computer and it didnt work.

Not a gaming mouse specifically - but certainly an aftermarket mouse as opposed to the symetrical non-sense that ships with most workstations. I use a MX Master 2S, and definitely make use of the additional buttons. I don't think it's as dramatic as adding a second monitor but it does increase productivity somewhat. Plus, we should only be using mice that ergonomically fit the hand (the MX series tend to fit men's hands well).

No such research/findings exist that stand up to scrutiny: are you trying to justify a corporate purchase?
Any reason you are ignoring pen/tablet and trackball options? Better computer hardware? better graphics cards? and dare I say it, better software customizations / add-ons to truly increase productivity?

Yes, what schroeder said. A mouse with customizable buttons (number of buttons that you'll find useful varies from person to person. Some of the true "gaming" mice out there have well over a dozen buttons and that's just not useful to me) most certainly can help to increase productivity. Absolutely no question about it. The increase probably won't be huge (like the addition of a second, or third, monitor), but that all depends on how you use the extra buttons.

I'm using a logitech m510, which only has a few programmable buttons.. but I'm left-handed, so having a ton of extra buttons designed for use on a right-handed mouse does me very little good. (or else I'd have one with a few more buttons to program. But the m510 works well enough for left-handed use)

I use two different mice and I love them both. I use the CADMouse from 3Dconnexion. It fits my hand very well, feels good, moves very smoothly, and has a button that opens a hub to add commands. It is extremely comfortable physically. I also use a Logitech gaming mouse (not with me right now and I don't remember the name) that has several programmable buttons, is wireless and has a wire (I typically leave it plugged in). It's a great size and fits my hand very well. Works great, has a back button, adjustable scroll wheel. I can't say how much productivity would increase with a programmable mouse but I know it helps. Even if all you do for AutoCAD use is add a button that toggles F3 and/or F8. I find these functions to help quite a bit. I have also added a button to open the osnap window. Clicks that you do often that keep you from taking your hand off of the mouse to type help out quite a bit. I recommend getting one.

I use a Logitech 848nm and love it. It's a wired mouse with a few programmable buttons. I tried a couple of wireless mice, but didn't like the lag in reaction time. I have 3 of the buttons programmed for: Save, Esc and Delete. This definitely speeds up my production, how much? who knows, but helping others using a regular mouse drives me crazy having to find the appropriate key on the keyboard. Barbaric!

The naga goes up to 8200dpi but I only tend to keep it around the 6000mark, this allows rapid movement around a 24" monitor with around half an inch movement, but with the additional buttons, can easily reduce that or increase depending on settings.

I spent the money for a naga at home and one for work, on windows without the software installed the dpi up and down buttons work as forwards and back when in windows explorer, really useful for jumping between folders.

I changed to a Logitech G600 which gives me about 35 commands at my fingertips, I review the mapping every so often to make sure I use all of them. I combine that with a space mouse pro for which I do not use the programmable buttons nearly enough. I would never go back, it's so much faster to do all my common tasks, measure, display datums, show/hide relationships change the selection filter etc

Copy, pase, ctrl, shift, delete and escape are also mapped to my mouse.
Not sure how much it increases my productivity but after a little use to remember the buttons it's amazing and I highly recommend getting a mouse with as many buttons on as you can.

i think Razer Mouse is very amazing..
I recommend the Mamba 2018 model... Razer products have best design and high quality...! I am very pleased with it..
If you are looking to buy gaming mouse don't waste time buying this mouse

I also have such a gaming mouse, and the same as it was written, I don't use the extra buttons as much as I should. Still, I can argue that it really increases performance and improves performance in the game. Honestly, I would never return to a standard mouse. Anyway, I consider that the main thing for good gaming is a powerful processor and high-quality screen. Some months ago, I ordered ASUS VP28UQG 28" from -budget-gaming-monitor-uk-under-100-200-300/, and I remained very pleased with it. Indeed, I should do it much earlier; the image quality is entirely different.

yes, I have Zelotes C1-2 and a Razer Trinity with the 12 side buttons, trivial things, like copy, paste, move, opening menu, close menu, esc and many other functions, I have buttons per application (mouse profiles) and works like charm, my right hand is more than just to point and click, once you used it for a while it becomes second nature, I don't know in terms of productivity percentage, but let's me avoid moving my hand from mouse to keyboard, which is a waste of time when you are doing a lot of point and click and navigating menus.

Suddenly the wheel of my G9x stopped working. The other buttons work just fine, I can even use the mousewheel to scroll left and right by pushing the mouse-wheel to one side or the other. I wonder what would be the best way to get it working again. I dont want to reinstall the whole system, just to get it back working again.

I just fixed mine... there is a sensor that can be blocked. After reading this, I simply got the can duster out with the straw, tilted the wheel and gave it several good sprays on each side of the wheel. It immediately started working again... I'm hoping I can squeeze a few more years out of, what is now a $350.00 mouse, given it's limited availability.

Nothing happens then. I expect the 3 small LEDs to flash blue, but they don't, no matter how long I hold the Profile switch button. Actually none of LEDs are working. The mouse just seems to be dead unless I switch it back to 2.4GHz mode.

Yes, multi-button mice work in Ubuntu according to the community help wiki page... If you have more than seven buttons (note that a clickable scroll wheel counts as three buttons), then you should install imwheel from the Universe repository and run imwheel -cfrom a terminal window to launch imwheel's graphical interface.

Yes, multi-button mice work fine in Ubuntu. However, configuration of buttons may not be as easy, and you can't use the software which comes with the mouse, to configure it, as generally only Windows is supported by such device manufacturers.

Even though my Lua scripts for my gaming mouse Logitech G502 Hero work fine in Windows desktop, or every application or game I tries, they dont work on Battlefield and the Origin app.Custom macros work, but the scripting doesnt.

So I switched from pc to Mac and the gaming mouse I was using is registering as another keyboard. It has 12 side buttons that are 0-9 and -,+,=
These buttons work for my key binds but when I try to do shift+any of the buttons it doesnt register it as, for example, shift+1 but only as if I am only pressing 1. Does anyone know a fix for this?

You can also use per-application button mappings, so in WoW you could leave the extra buttons alone to map directly to action bar buttons, but then in general desktop usage you can map buttons to macOS functionality.

If the mouse is a Razer Naga Epic/Chroma with the buttons on the side. I have seen this issue just about every time I update OS X or get a new Mac. The solution I have used repeatedly is to open up terminal and type in the following:

If I use xev to test for input events, my back/forward buttons work like most mice- I get values of button 8 and button 9. However, when I use the other extra mouse buttons, I get IDENTICAL values to pressing 1, 2, or 3 on the keyboard respectively.

As an example, say I open a terminal. I can press these extra mouse buttons and it will "type" 1, 2 or 3 into the terminal just as if I had hit those numbers on my keyboard. If I hit shift, it will "type" !, @, and # just as if I had typed on the keyboard.
