Hi, I'm using Magix Movie Edit Pro Plus 2020, I have an i7-7700 CPU @ 3.6Ghz, 32GB RAM PC & have just updated my hard drive to a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB M.2-2280 NVMe PCIe SSD, before i updated the hardrive i had a Kingston 120GB SATA SSD drive, i did a test where i opened Magix, created as i normally do a project folder, i imported 10 clips into it, loaded onto magix where it created proxy files, i added 18fr crossfades, i make YT vids & like that length of crossfade, i then exported the film as mp4, After updating the hardrive to the m.2 evo plus drive i did exactly the same, created a project folder, imported the same 10 clips into it, loaded onto magix where it created proxy files, added 18fr crossfades, then exported the film as mp4, The 10 clips made the video 4.5mins long, I saw a 1min difference in export between the 2 drives. 7.5mins for the SATA SSD & 6.5mins with the m.2 evo plus, a small improvement & may be better when i export a YT which which are normally more like 30clips & 20mins long, I can't improve my pc anymore apart from the graphics card which is NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030,

Would a better graphics card make any difference or is there any settings i can change? Maybe a better Magix program, it's the create Proxy files & export that i want to improve on, I'm quite happy with what features i get in Movie Edit Pro Plus, Thanks

1 x 250GB Evo 970 NVMe: drive for C: drive backup 1 x 1TB Sabrent NVMe drive for Operating System / Programs only. 1X WD BLACK 1TB internal SATA 7,200rpm hard drives.1 for internal projects, 1 for Library clips/sounds/music/stills./backup of working projects. 1x500GB SSD current project only drive, 2x WD RED 2TB drives for latest footage storage. Total 21TB of 8 external WD drives for backup.

Thanks, yep 1920 x 1080, Yep i mentioned crossfade transitions were added, 'i added 18fr crossfades, i make YT vids & like that length of crossfade,' I inc the crossfades as part of this test because i wanted it to be as real as what i would when making my YT vids, Thanks i'll have a look at that link ??

Hi, Thanks, I'll have a look at the Intel HD630 integrated GPU & my grey picture shows those settings i believe, 2 hardware acceleration options are checked & Default is selected, I'll have a look at the links you've inc thanks ??

Sorry I think i was being a little rash saying the export was no different, played with it a little now, the vid clips i was experimenting with were 1min long, not long enough to show the difference, so i started afresh, i haven't changed anything from my last comment, I have two screens connected to the graphics card btw,

I imported a larger file 3.45mins long, more like one of the bigger ones i normally use, creating proxy can take nearly as long as the clip itself but this time it flew through ? I added a few more smaller clips, they flew on too but were a bit shorter, I used Magix open twice on top to capture the screen, the collection of clips with an 18fr crossfade on each, project length 7.52mins, it exported in 3.34mins ????? that's the time compared to the 10mins it would normally take, I make 20min-ish YT vids that take a bit longer to export, normally more like 30mins-ish, I need to make a proper video with cuts, subtitles etc. I'll post on here my findings for you/anyone else to see. Thankyou both of you.??

I 'm going to post the video of this screen capture which i need to cut the exporting bit down a bit but curiously the screen capture was shorter & took longer to export than the original imported clips bit that i was capturing, ???

This is the video screen capture i mentioned, i trimmed the start & finish, added a Jpg of the first clip i imported's details & some text with a reduced opacity black background, 6.49min video exported in 3.34mins ?????? Exlent, hopefully my real vids will export quick too, so i don't have to leave it exported n go to bed, then wait till next day to see what mistakes i've made, ?? Thankyou again ??

Yes, Unticking 'Calculate video effects on GPU' was one of the most effective ways I found to speed things up that was actually the biggest shock. Nothing else I tried gave the same performance boost but I had a setup of sorts to start with (The Intel GPU being put into Power Saving being one of them) but all settings and placements added up to additional time export savings.

? Ok, Like i say it's always been off for me, didn't know what it did so didn't turn it on ? I've just turned most things off, & restarted the PC, There's 68 background processes but they all ref to windows, Intel, Microsoft n AVG etc. I've been up all night playing with tha PC & Magix, haven't changed any of the settings, just checking everything is ok as i only put that m.2 drive in yesterday, about a hr before i came on here n started messing with the graphic settings ?? everything's fine though, i get faster & more satisfactory import/proxy speeds & export is roughly half the length of the complete project/movie ?? Just had a look at your page n i says you have an Intel i9900K Coffee Lake 3.6 to 5.1GHz CPU, i googled it & i think it is 8/16 cores? do you get much faster export speeds or is there a limit to the speed that Magix can work at?

My guess is yes! More cores do not make a huge difference - each core just seems to get used less. There is some evidence to suggest that higher CPU clock speed helps. It is almost as though the program is limited on high end machines so that it still works reasonably well on mid range and lower end machines that probably represent the majority of users hardware.

It may be possible that your original SSD being only 120GB was too full which can slow them down considerably but drive speed should not be a huge factor in exporting times because most of the bottle neck is in the processing of the Video on the CPU and GPU.

That warning you got about the Intel Control Panel was just telling you it was installing the control panel software but was probably as a result of the change in the bios allowing the Intel GPU hardware to activate. BTW what was the Bios setting prior to changing it? Auto should have worked also but you may have needed to have a monitor input connected to Intel Mobo output as well as the Nvidia output.
