My multimodal tutorial is in regards to
DimpledChad.info, a political information resource for students. It allows students to look at participatory patterns with regards to registration and electoral outcomes. Through the website, students can:
1. -Use the "Ballot Box" tool (which utilizes census data) to search by state, election year, and citizen characteristics (such as employment status, education, marital status, etc.) in order to look at a number of variables such as voter turnout, reason for not voting, citizen composition, etc.
-Users can utilize either the Basic or Advanced version of this tool, and can export data to Microsoft Excel or create a graph of search results.
2. Use the "Almanac" tool to see official results of elections from 1972-2008, as well as electoral college votes (all displayed concisely in a chart).
3. Use the "Register to Vote" tool to find information on voter registration in their particular state.
Overall, this tool is great not only for research purposes, but also as a means to look at who is voting within our electoral system. Perfect for a Civics, Contemporary Issues, or American History course, but this tool can be applied across the disciplines, given the data it provides (MATH!).
