For my lesson, students would be working collaboratively on a book summary/analysis project. Students will use Google Technologies (Google + Community, Google Doc, Hangouts/chat) to work together to create a page for a book similar to a SparkNotes page (for a book that is NOT already on SparkNotes). Students will use their Google community to create sections for the book, including a book summary, chapter summaries & analyses, a character list & character analyses, themes, symbols, and important quotes. Students will use a Google Doc to work together on the sections, writing and editing them until all members of the group are satisfied at which point their work will be published on the Google Community in the appropriate section. Students will work on this project for the duration of the reading of their novel (and probably about a week longer). The teacher will act as the moderator for the Google technologies, setting up the community and the doc and adding the students in each group to the appropriate communities, so that the teacher can see who added what work and when to really be able to assess student work.
