I'm applying for the Module One Badge for the ORMS Course.  The following links lead to my tutorial and reflection from module one. 
   My tutorial focuses on learning and practicing some basic Windows commands and tools.  Specifically, cut, copy, paste, undo, screenshot, and Paint.  I touch on some practical uses as well as some fun uses for the classroom.  I didn't go terribly in depth with my own planned uses, but I like to create tasks where learning and using these shortcuts and techniques becomes beneficial prima facie.  An activity like a WebQuest or Google Maps scavenger hunt are student-centered, usually engaging and fun, practice practical computer skills, enhance the appreciation for tech or introduce new tech tools, and empower the student to find more on their own.  I believe it is a useful foundation for efficiently using a computer, a step after learning proper keyboarding.  Teaching these tips is something I would do early on in my classroom, and I believe everyone, including other teachers, could benefit. 
   The combination of the videos from this module, seeing students misuse tech at my internship, and my looming student teaching where I'm told about a third of our time is spent in the computer lab researching has me reconsidering my approach to technology in the classroom.  Perhaps I need a plan to get kids tech-savvy in a more thoughtful and methodical way.  This is one of my first ideas.

Great work Troy. I appreciate your thoughtful, and cautious approach to the use of instructional technologies. I agree with you that the mindset of "if we put technology in front of students they'll use it" is misguided. 

I'm interested to see if you could/would have your students use and annotate screenshots.
