In this module, I really played with the idea of using my Graphic Design minor to have students create minimalist posters about a text they have read while in high school to build on their reading comprehension skills. I have spent a majority of my graduate career revising this lesson plan to make it useful and rigorous to students while meeting the CCSS and I think I finally got it to a point where I am happy with it!! Students will use a blogging site to share their progress, comment and critique their classmates' work and post their final reflections linked to the text while using digital designing programs to create their posters over the course of a week or so. Finished products would not only be used in a senior portfolio but would highlight the reasons why a text is a student's favorite from their educational career!

Love this.

What a powerful use of imagery, visual literacies, and semiotics (look it up) in the context of your content area. This may seem inconsequential, but it's a powerful opportunity to practice these skills. Excellent use of these skills and texts to focus on online content construction.

Badge awarded.

Hi Ian,

Thank you!! I hope to continue improving this lesson plan to use in the future. I'm glad that my use of technology and blogging has made this project work for this class and the content of the module!
