“Jimmy”, 86, passed away peacefully onMay 20, 2026, in Bettendorf, Iowa.He was the beloved husbandof the late Judith (née Stiefel) for 40 yearsand Barbara (née Biegler) Fox-Heymanfor 25 years.He was the loving father ofKurt (Anne Steadman) Heyman,Tanya (Scott) Zivin,Mark A. (Trudy) Fox,and Steven L. Fox.Harold was the cherished grandfather ofRebecca Heyman,Julia Zivin,Emma Zivin,Brandon M. (Kaitlyn) Fox,Jacob B. Fox,and Kaitlyn E. Foxand the adored great-grandfather ofAsa Fox.He was the much-loved brother of thelate Ruth (the late Norman) Ritterand a treasured uncle, great-uncle,and friend to many.“Doc” was raised in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago and was an alumnus of the University of Illinois Chicago Medical School. He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. An extraordinary man, Harold was kind, passionate, thoughtful, and caring. He was an anesthesiologist for many years at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, where he was greatly admired and loved by colleagues and patients alike. His presence and kindness will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
