Well, first, I should join this group so that I'd actually get the
emails... Doh! :D
Second, I don't think there's anything wrong with just hanging out and
talking about Python... and drinking beer. Beer is good. That worked
for the PHP group for a long time, as long as we were regular and
intentional about it.
So, why don't we just start there? Let's pick a date and time to meet,
talk about what we want from the group and when we should meet next
(and regularly)? The biggest help to me in organizing the PHP group
was having something in place that regularly notified the members (and
me) about the next meeting, which was scheduled on the same day every
month. I used Meetup.com for that eventually, since a former PHP group
was already there and established (I took over for the previous
organizer, Sway).
After talking with Josh and Chad in person (Coworking Tuesdays plug),
I setup a group on Meetup.com for us. It wasn't any additional cost to
me, since I'm already paying for the PHP group. There's a mailing list
available there, too, but primarily we can setup a recurring event
that will remind everyone on the mailing list that there's another
meeting coming up. As long as we use the same time, day, and place,
it's fire-and-forget.
So let's talk about time, day, and place...! Who's got ideas for
meeting 0? Maybe we need to add "Incredible" somewhere in the title,
though, if we're going to reboot... Seems to work for Marvel. :D
