Thanks for the post.
We have been doing this for quite some time with the use of zwnj as you have now suggested, but this is not the proper way. The problem becomes apparent when we transfer the composed text to Linux. A box appears in place of the zwnj.
In windows 7 both the khi,thi, dhi and
ର୍ୟ come out fine with Lohit Oriya font without the nj, the problem with the Kalinga font has to be solved at the font level so that the rendering remains true across the platforms.
Incidentally, we have had no problem with any conjuncts in Windows 7 and we use Odia heavily.
