I am sad to announce that Dr.Radhanath Rath, who pioneered in the field Psychology in Odisha passed away today. He was internationally known for his seminal work in Social Psychology. He was considered as one of the most prominent psychologists India ever produced. He made Utkal University Psychology department the best in India. As a recognition, the first ever Advanced Center in Psychology was established in Utkal. His accomplishments in various aspects are too many to list here.

It is a personal loss to me. I belong to the first batch of Honours(BA) , and later I taught Ravenshaw and Utkal PG dept for four years as his colleague. He was my mentor, and Guru in the Indian tradition. Many of his students and colleagues are spread across the globe. I know there are many within OSA membership.

For the last few years his health was very poor, so probably it was a relief for him to breathe his last, though it is no comfort to his students like me.Dr. Rath was an atheist and did not believe in prayers. He and I shared common interest Teachings of Buddha. So farewell mu Guru. I wished I was there in his last moments to wash his feet with my tears.
