Subject: Bhubaneswar is no more in IISER agenda
Dear Sachi bhai,You must have heard of the UPA Govt's approval of setting up two IISERs at Kolkata and Pune at yesterday's Cabinet meeting. As such Bhubaneswar is no more in agenda. In context of Cabinet's clearance of setting up two Indian Institutes of Science Education Reasearch with a view to promoting research in pure Sciences,I ache to share some of my concerns with you and the persons who through Orissapolitics platform have been relentlessly putting up resistence to Centre's step-motherly treatment of Orissa. To begin with, misguided and brainwashed by false advertisements carrying promise a secure and prospective academic and professional career, a lot n lot of potentially bright students pursuing degreers in engineering and management sciences in private colleges in Orissa, which are in no sense different from business establishments. Those students could have made nationally and globally recognised genuine careers in both applied and pure sciences,if there had been an institute no less than IISER/IIT/Central Universty.Because of the low level of awareness about higher studies and associated careers, lack of affordability to leave Orissa for higher studies , a lot n lot of students in Orissa have been deprived of opportunities to realise their potential.By the way, what factors led Monmohan Singh Government to disregard Orissa's genuine demand????????How Naveen Patnaik was convined of the absence of an IISER at Bhubaneswar???????How long "power politics" will determine the fate of people???????There are a lot of questions to ponder over.Mahesh
