Reminder: Wonderwerk Cave talk @ Origins next week
A reminder that Prof Marion Bamford will present the talk ‘Wonderwerk
Cave and early evidence for the controlled use of fire” at Origins
Centre next Tuesday.
The cave has been occupied by hominids for approximately the last 2
million years. It is an isolated site in the Kuruman hills in the
Northern Cape with several metres of sediments containing bones, stone
artifacts, charcoal and pollen. Since 2004 a team has renewed
excavations, using modern dating and analytical methods and making the
world aware of the significance of the cave.
