to origina...@googlegroups.com, Robert Sinclair
Hi there

A big thank you to everyone who came last night.  It was the highest turnout in the group's existence.  I would like to thank Robyn, Honza and Paul for sharing with us some excellent writing.  As always, an inspirational evening.

On another note, I received the following email from Robert Sinclair (see below).   Have a read, think it over and if you are interested, then email Robert direct with your story, letting him know you are a member of the Original Writers Group.  A lot of you have some very interesting "works-in-progress".  This might be a great opportunity to give the work an airing.  This is open to all member of the group regardless of where you are at the moment -- so what about Kevin -- how about The Devil's Apprentice from Melbourne or Shirin -- maybe something from Tehran? Or Jade -- something from South Africa? And Debu -- is this a good opportunity for airing "Stealing for God"?

If you want to get involved then email Robert back on robert....@btinternet.com

That's all.

See you in two weeks on Wednesday 19

Best wishes

Rupert

Subject: The Original Writers' Group

Dear Rupert,

I am writing to tell you about a new website which may be of interest to you and members of The Original Writers' Group.

The purpose of the site is to allow writers of all standards the opportunity to publish their work on the web, and for readers to be able to download it in either text or audio format, depending on which option the author wants to offer.

Readers will be able to comment on the books they've read, directly to the author, and will also be able to 'score' them for the benefit of other visitors. Such feedback may encourage some authors to make amendments to their manuscripts, if they so wish, which they will be able to do online through password protected access. Site statistics will also be available, so that they can see how many people have clicked on their synopsis, first chapter, full text etc, giving them valuable information about whether or not readers are being drawn into reading the full text or, if not, at which point they move on.

Authors will always own and control their own work and will be able to remove it altogether if they so wish. They will also be able to decide whether they want to make the full text available for free, or whether they want to make a small charge.

The new site is currently under construction and will be ready within the next few weeks, but before launching it to the public at large we want to test it thoroughly with the help of existing writers. We are now actively looking to recruit 100 writers, of all standards, who would like to have their work uploaded onto the site, whether it be a full length novel or just a short story. In return for their help we will of course waive the normal registration charge of £17 but, more importantly, those works will be the only ones which will appear on the site at the time of its full launch later this year. We expect to generate a lot of interest in the launch and have already had some very encouraging comments and support from well-known names in the publishing business.

As you would expect, we are writing to a number of Writers' Circles and Groups, but we must limit the test to 100 works only. We will, therefore, have to operate a 'first come, first served' policy.

If you think that some of your members might be interested in this opportunity, please let me know as quickly as possible so that I can tell you more about our plans.

I look forward to hearing from you.
