I need to make use of an external library in my orientdb plugin, this library has a dependency on com.fasterxml.jackson version 2.7.0. However it looks like orientdb is still using version jackson-core-2.2.3, and as a result I get an error when I run the server with my plugin enabled.

Is there anything I can do?

Hi Simon,

Have you already tried to just replace the libs under ORIENTDB_HOME/libs?

This works fine, thank you!

HOWEVER I am a bit worried - how can I test if this has any implication? The jackson versions are significatly different, I am worried something might have broken in Orientdb. Presumably Orientdb uses jackson for data serialisation?

No, that's a dependency of TinkerPop stack, so if you don't use the Rexster component, you're good.
