hello everyone,
sustain are offering a subsidised trip to iain tolhurst's farm, see below. it's a great opportunity for a half price visit to a really inspirational grower.

2014 trainees- if you wanted to make this your group trip, organiclea could pay the extra £25/head. you will need to decide this by email (you can all email your trainee compatriots on traine...@lists.riseup.net). i have checked with the hawkwood team and we think we could manage without any trainees for one wednesday if you all want to go.

sustain are looking to confirm no.s this week, so please get back to me by friday lunchtime if you want to go and i'll book some organiclea places.

Jo

Dear Jo

As part of our work to support groups who are running traineeships we are organising a trip to Tolhurst Organic Farm, with Growing Communities as follows:

Wednesday, 17 September 2014 from 09:00 to 17:00

We are subsidising the cost with EU funding on a project called Food Metres so it will be £25 per head, but we wanted to offer this to yourself and the other key groups running training for your current and ex trainees, before we widen out to other members.  We can also offer a bursary if there are people who cannot afford the £25.

Do let me and Eloise know by Friday if you think you will want some spaces.  We will then send the booking link via Eventbrite.

Best wishes

Iain Tolhurst, along with his business partner Lin, have held the organic symbol for over 30 years, thus making Tolhurst Organic one of the longest running organic vegetable farms in England. The farm doesn’t only hold the “Soil Association” symbol but was the first to attain the “Stockfree Organic” symbol in 2004, and has had no grazing animals and no animal inputs to any part of the farm for the last 10 years.

This is a great opportunity for London growers to see and hear about organic growing outside of the city.

We will provide transport for this event. Bus will leave from Shepherds Bush, London at 9.30am and drop at the farm for a full tour and lunch. We will return to London Shepherds Bush at 18.30.

Hi All,

I'm not sure that you have all heard about this event yet but it would be really nice to see you there if you fancy.

To celebrate world food sovereignty day, urban food fortnight and the turning of the  seasons we are organising a special feast - The Harvest of Stories - which will be held at Hawkwood on Saturday the 20th September.

We will all share a 4 course meal of our own produce at a long table in the glasshouse. The menu will be composed of plants that carry within them deep cultural connections and powerful stories of labour and love, creativity and resistance, passion and loss.

Throughout the meal these stories will be drawn out from the dishes and woven into the conversations around the table.

Expect delicious vegan food cooked by Norman Loves Soup alongside weird and wonderful stories and good company.

Arrive 6:30 for 7. Tickets are £20 or £15 concessions. We are restricted to 40 places so please RSPV soon to ad...@organiclea.org.uk to book your place and arrange payment.

There will be a bar. Dress code is “Peasant Chic”.

At Hawkwood Plant Nursey, 115 Hawkwood Crescent, Chingford, E4 7UH

With cheer,

Adam
