Also, to be clear:  I do not expect you to reproduce an entire ozonolysis or dihydroxylation mechanism on your exam.  But, you should be able to show how the *first cyclic intermediate* forms in both cases.  For instance:  When ozone adds to an alkene, you should be able to draw the step leading to the first molozonide intermediate.  You should also be able to draw the same set of arrows for adding OsO4 to an alkene to form a cyclic osmate ester.
