Irecently bought a Vivoactive 4S and yesterday I took my first walk with the new watch. I tracked the activity with GPS. Afterwards I wanted to look up the number of steps taken during this activity, so I can input this number to calculate my average step distance. But I can't find this information anywhere in the activity summary.
I'm sure the activity was tracked just fine, the synchronization was also fine, and I believe the total number of steps for yesterday does include the number of steps taking during this activity. I would just like to know how many steps I've taken during this tracked activity.
If you're interested in what your total daily steps are while you're in an activity, there's another IQ data field called "simple steps" so that you can easily see your total steps are during an activity. It won't show in the activity summary but it's useful to not have to swipe around for it while you're exercising.
I already have a data field with "steps" set in my walking activity, so I can see the number of steps taken while walking, but the problem is that I want to look up how many steps I've taken during the activity, afterwards.
You need to install the IQ Data field from the IQ App store called "Steps to Fit" and add it to your activity. It displays and writes the number of steps related to the activity to the FIT File of the activity.
Sadly, my HRM-Run is no longer connecting to my device and I would like to know where to find the number in order to to send it to Garmin for repairs. Therefore, I would like to know where to look on the device itself.
I still had the box of my HRM Run so I entered the number from the sticker at the top. I don't know if that is the number. I had to contact the support via mail because in the RMA I received after phone contact they wrote HRM premium strap without sensor. Well, I need a new HRM Run. They wrote in the description that mine doesn't work anymore but selected a wrong product number. So mail with the serial number and the right product number. Now I'm waiting.
If you purchased the HRM as an accessory (not as part of the bundle), the serial number will be on a small white label with a barcode on the box. If it was purchased as a bundle, the only way to find this is from activity data or the About Menu (in the sensors menu on your Edge/Wearable).
Garmin reserves the right to provide you the finest product available to date. Engineering enhancements are ongoing and may not be reflected in the pictures, videos, support content and specifications.
The serial number is an important identification number unique to each device. The serial number can be used to register your product, check warranty status, and may be asked for by a Garmin associate when contacting Product Support. The serial number can be found on the original box it came in (usually a white label with a barcode under the serial number), however if the original packaging has already been recycled you can find the serial number in two more places for the following watches:
I have used it twice now and both times were inaccurate in terms of the distance. If I want to do 2KM or 80 lengths in a session, or 40 or whatever, I want this number to show somewhere. I have even checked the data in the Garmin Connect on my phone and the web version an still can't find the number of laps.
I have it linked to Swimtag and MySwimPro both of which showed the number of laps. This is basic piece of info, the reason I bought the watch and it should be there. I don't want to to have to do all these calculations from the metres while I am swimming, I just want to count the laps.
As yet I have not had a reply here from Garmin or anyone. I am still finding that need to do my own lap counting in my head and mental calculations!! The other day I swam 28 lengths. I had to try and work out what 25m x 28 was in my head, so that I could verify if what was showing on my watch was correct!! The watch makes the swim really stressful. Hope someone can clarify whether the number of laps is possible to get on the watch screen.
I am in the process of trying to speak to an advisor at Garmin. Been on hold for a while, been transferred then on hold again, then cut off. If I get to speak to someone I will ask them and inform them of this question we have asked.
I called Garmin today and I spoke with Brian. I only had to wait on the phone about 2 minutes to get through. Brian was clearly knowledgeable about the software and he was able to help me find the number of laps.
Basically you go to the software on the phone and you find the four icons going across the screen. The third one from the left is like an arrow which loops around you click that one. Then you have to put your phone in portrait mode and turn it sideways so you can see more data going across the screen and presto there it is!
Brian also helped me to put the numbers that I want on the front screen of the watch itself when I'm swimming. To summarize briefly you just go to data screens and then you can set which numbers you want to appear.
The five buttons on the Garmin swim 2 are pretty intuitive. Before the tech representative could tell me what to do I was guessing. But without his help I would have had a little bit of difficulties. There seems to be a bit of a shortage of YouTube videos and web pages to explain in detail how to use this particular model. Once you understand it a little bit it really is quite good! So far I'm very very happy with this watch. Also with Garmin customer service.
Hi sorry for my late reply and thanks for all this info. Glad you spoke to someone at Garmin who was helpful. I too spoke to someone but they weren't helpful as I did not get all this advice. So I had seen the lengths on the phone app when you rotate the screen but I could not see it on the watch screen while swimming. Have you managed to get this info to show on your watch face now when swimming?
I have used this feature - basically it beeps or vibrates when you reach the milestone you have set right? I need the crude number of laps, rather than the mile or km on the front of the watch while swimming.
What the title says - up until very recently, when I sent one of my pre-set check ins (just switched them over to the newer check in messages) and while I can finally get it to go to my email address, I can't send a check in to my cell as a text message. I noticed that the icon next to my phone number is a message icon instead of a phone icon - so did something change to prevent sending of a message to SMS when it's the account holder's number? It's still successfully texting my other contacts for those presets.
Yes! We can still send one off messages to my cell number and they go through - its the check in/presets that are not sending through to my cell number associated with the account (my husband is going out without me this weekend, so we are getting him set up to be able to message me rather than the other way around).
I just got a Mini 2 and want both my wife and me to be able to check-in with it, sending a message to the other. I've added myself as a Contact, I see myself as a recipient in the device, but I do not get a text message - only my wife does. The account is under my phone number.
So it appears that the device is able to Check-in with me as the Account owner via SMS, but fails to do so if more than one recipient is listed. Multiple recipients works only if I am not one of the listed recipients.
I emailed Support about it. The solutions was to delete my Garmin Messenger account in the Messenger app and then delete the Messenger app (I had only deleted it removed the app before, not deleted the account). That means I cannot use the Messenger app, but at least my wife can use the device and I can receive text messages from it using Check-ins.
The Check-in message's recipient list is set using the Messenger app or the
explore.garmin.com website. You can't choose the recipient for Check-ins directly in the Inreach device. I want to use check-in messages because they are unlimited, while the other messages are not unlimited on the plan that I have (and I'd prefer to not pay for the upgraded plan as the check-in messages are sufficient for our purposes at the moment).
After some testing, I didn't see much benefit to the Messenger app and so deleted it and the my Messenger account. So now my wife and I can use the device to send check-in messages which will appear as SMS on both or our phones.
