Subject: Newspaper and Other Coverage of the Mason Pond Project
I’m pleased to report that the News Editor of the Valley News and the Editor of the Journal Opinion have both agreed to have coverage on the successful completion of the Mason Pond Project.
The reports are both to appear a few days in advance of Orford Day on August 13 (the JO in its August 10 edition) and will in part be based on the Upper Valley Land Trust’s press release (see enclosure). In the case of the Valley News, reporter Tim Camerato and photographer Jennifer Hauck have been assigned to the story and on August 3 will meet with Jeanie McIntyre, Harry, and perhaps Dave Bischoff as well, at the site to get first-hand information and take photos. As for the Journal Opinion, in addition to the report in its August 10 edition, Cicely Richardson plans to attend the Celebration/Dedication event on August 13 and will include an account of it in her overall report about Orford Day’s activities.
Also, in case you haven’t yet seen it in the UVLT’s E-newsletter or at
www.uvlt.org., their current top item is
“A Place Where Past Is Present”, which announces the Mason Pond Project celebration and dedication on Orford Day, refers to the NH Barn Committee Task Force visit on July 12, and encloses much of the text of the Overview about Quinttown’s history as related to Billy Brown that I presented last October for the Joint OHS/Conservation Commission
“Discovering Quinttown’s Secrets" Walking Tour.
In addition, I understand that N.H. Agricultural Commissioner Merrill’s column in the current edition of the Weekly Market Bulletin, published by the N.H. Division of Agriculture, Markets & Food, will include a description of the Task Force’s visit on July 12. Also, I expect that we will receive the Task Force’s report this coming week.
