Dear all,
I hope you all have had a good break over the Easter period. This is the first OREMA post for a while, so there is a lot to cover.
Firstly, we have 14 new OREMA participants since the official launch. There are also three new links to external analyses by Robert Frank and David Hirst. You can find links to these analyses on the right hand side of the front page. It would be great if you could leave some feedback in the comments sections for these pages.
Secondly, I'm in the process of producing a questionnaire for the original core participants who joined the OREMA project when it was originally launched on March 2011. I will be contacting you individually to send you a brief questionnaire to evaluate your experience with OREMA.
Thirdly, I would like to expand the analytical toolbox (
http://www.orema.dmu.ac.uk/?q=analytical_toolbox). I have noticed a lot of people have been using it and have found it very useful. Remember these are articles that function similarly to wikipedia articles, as any participant can change the content in order to form a consensus within the community. So far there are 14 'analytical tools' that have been listed. I plan on adding more in the coming months, specifically articles covering: auditory scene analysis, unités sémiotiques temporelles, and sound-colour theory. Are there any serious gaps that need filling? I am still looking for 'tools' that cover other forms of electroacoustic music, such as installations and mixed-music. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
Finally, a big thank you to Manuella Blackburn who has designed the new logo for the OREMA project.
All the best,
Mike
