Thought I would post a quick status report on the network merging project.

Am now matching  RLIS ('city centerline data')  and OSM street networks for the Portland Metro area.

Match rate is about 95% (i.e. 95% of the RLIS segments in the OSM coverage area I am currently using, are successfully matched to their OSM counterparts.

The end result is currently two path networks: one using RLIS geo data (segment locations) and the other using OSM geo data.  These segmented networks are keyed to both OSM way ids and RLIS segment localid's.

Most of the remaining unmatched data seems to involve freeways and other split ways:  particularly those split in only one of the networks.

RE:  3x Earth Escape velocity.
About 6100 miles of street are matched in under 5 minutes.  That is in excess of 72,000 mph, or about three times the escape velocity from earth at the earth's surface.
