We will have to talk to our state legislators frequently to persuade
them to support particular bills or general concepts. Legislators are
more responsive if they know they're talking to one of their
constituents. So in cases when we may want to target particular
legislators, it helps to know we have one of their constituents among
us.

For the time being, you can go to our PDX Wiki Wednesday page and add
yourself to the table to let us know who your state legislators are:
http://pdx.wiki.org/Oregon_Government_2.0_bill#List_of_participants.27_legislators
If you don't know who your legislators are, then find out on the
Oregon Legislative Assembly's website:

Great. I just realized people can't just add themselves to the table unless they have an account at the PDX Wiki website. I added you. I think registration is open to everyone, but editing is closed to everyone but established users because there was a very bad episode of spam a month or two ago. So everyone should feel free to register, but if for some reason you don't want to, or if you're having difficulties, you can just state who your legislators are, and someone else will add you.

Mine are devlin, and...um...the new guy in 38 who replaced Mac. Chris
Garrett? Or was that the guy who lost? Either way, HD 38.

Bear and TJ, I've added you two. Are you listed how you prefer to be listed? I think there's a bias towards real names here, as opposed to screen names, but that's not required.

I'd like to remain TJ, simply because that's who I am "professionally" speaking. Virtually no one I deal with via Loaded Orygun knows who "Mark" is. Think of me as Cher. Or Bono. :)

Thanks

Burdick and Nolan. But I have zip zero influence in those offices.

But I can be very helpful with Rep. Thompson if that help.

I've added you, Dylan. I'm curious, why do you say you have no influence in Burdick's or Nolan's offices? That's especially unfortunate given that Rep. Nolan is a member of Rules, where HB 3091 is currently sitting. However, any influence you have on any legislator is valuable, and being able to directly influence Jim Thompson is better than not being able to directly influence him.

Pete Forsyth and I met yesterday and set up a CAPTCHA on the wiki.
This means that anonymous editors must do some simple math before they
can edit; this should weed out most of the automated bots that had,
until our recent page protections, been linkspamming with the
unrelenting frenzy of a caffeine-addicted troop of viagra-selling
gibbons. Consequently, I've lifted the semi-protection on that page,
so anyone can add themselves to the table, even if you're not logged
in or an established user (although you're still encouraged to create
a login, it's quick and puts a name behind your edits). The table,
again, is linked in Rick's original post, or here:
http://pdx.wiki.org/Oregon_Government_2.0_bill#List_of_participants.27_legislators

Please do add yourself to the table if you're not there already!

Most excellent. Thank you, Pete and Kotra, for this nice, grief-saving addition!
