Governor Kate Brown has stated her intent to "line item veto"
$2 million approved by the Oregon Legislature for the SW
Capitol Highway Project between Multnomah Village and Taylor's
Ferry Road in SW
Portland.
We need to sign this petition immediately, as Gov. Brown
can issue the veto any day now. It takes about one
minute to sign it online.
This project has been identified as a top neighborhood
priority since 1996. It would add a continuous sidewalk and
protected bike lane on the east side and a multi-use path on
the west side, along with updated crossings, better bus stops,
and other elements. It is supported by the local neighborhood
associations.
It is bizarre that Gov. Brown would choose to veto this
project, out of hundreds being funded around the state. It
also seems like a slap in the face to the 4 legislators whose
districts include this stretch of SW Capitol Highway:
