Does anyone have any good resource material for explaining complex
psychiatric disorders to tweens and lower functioning teens?

Hey Lara,

Good luck with this one as you are fighting development. But you could try this web address: http://www.teenhealthfx.com/answers/Emotional/index.php or MentalHelp.net but this website is very medical model and pathologizing , SAMHSA, NAMI, NIMH or National Mental Health Association.

 Take care.

That's a great question. I do not have any resources on hand as it
does not seem that explaining disorders to tweens/teens has been a
goal in the field. Many of the books that I have looked over only
used metaphoric language and storytelling to create meaning around
complex psychiatric disorders for young people.
