i played all of the mafia games and finished them. now i reinstalled them and i see there is an 2k launcher and it doesnt want to close even if i put disable launcher in game settings. any fix for this? and to work for every mafia game to not open that damn launcher anymore
I can't find definitive info on when the 2K launcher was added to the game, but it seems to have been approximately 1 month ago (sometime in March or April 2021). The addition of the 2K launcher means that you can no longer rename the executable from "Mafia3DefinitiveEdition.exe" to "Mafia3.exe" to solve issues with Nvidia not recognizing the game, as well as the performance seems to be damaged beyond belief. This game runs worse now than it ever has before and it seems like it's all due to the requirement of the 2K launcher (which apparently hogs 30 times as many resources as it should, though I can't confirm that). With Mafia (1): Definitive Edition you can bypass this launcher but not with 3.

Both of these elements are clearly visible on the launcher shown in the screenshotted video, as is a yellow band near the muzzle. Some have speculated that the yellow color signifies that the weapon is actually a dummy, though experts contacted by Newsweek could not immediately corroborate this detail (with certain online resources suggesting that a black and yellow band could in fact indicate high explosives).
Which leads us to the second misleading aspect of the narrative promoted by Ramaswamy and others: there is no tangible evidence to suggest the launcher (not least "dozens" of them) came from Ukraine, nor is such a claim made in the original Spanish-language reporting.
This first clip of in-game footage reveals a sweeping view of the island's topography, up close encounters with numerous characters as well as a demonstration of forceful weaponry including an automatic rifle and a grenade launcher. The main hero will be seen driving a tank to cover an infantry assault, haggling with a street trader for a bundle of bananas, attacking enemy airfield from a high-tech chopper and exploring the jungles on foot in search of a mystical Indian artifact. On display are some of the game's most unusual situations including riding sharks and taking over a mafia gunboat with a knife in stealth mode. The wide open RPG/FPS world and total freedom of play has to be seen to be believed.
Anyone could be forgiven for wasting a bit of time on a sunny Friday afternoon when the World Cup's about to start, and sinking to playing a bit of Solitaire on the PC hardly seems like that much of a sin - but obviously you wouldn't want to do it if you were, you know, trying an alleged mafia boss for murder.
