The story format, originated and made famous by Snapchat, was added as a feature on Facebook in 2017. Today, one billion stories are shared on social media across Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp every single day.
For two days now a story has been visible on my story that I didn't add. It's harmless and doesn't seem like a scam of any sort, just someone from my country posting selfies. I logged out of all my accounts and it happened again today. Any ideas?
So I've been thinking about this interlude for a long time. I hated it when it came out. Unlike Be Yourself, Facebook story seemed pointless to me. Eventually, I came to not hate it, and just consider it a silly story in the middle of the album. However, the more I listened to it, the more I connected to the guy, and I didn't know why. Now I think I get it.
Yeah it's majorly dumb for him not to add her on Facebook, but the bigger message is that there was no trust in the relationship. Facebook wasn't even necessary in the story; she had no trust. She was going to break up with eventually for any minor thing and this was the straw that broke the camel's back.
There are two ways that a user can view Facebook Stories. First, by scrolling to the top of the feed, the users are able to view their friends' Stories and create a story. Second, swipe right from any screen on the Facebook app. Users can "like" Stories and reply to them.
Before uploading content to a story, users are able to save it to the camera roll. Once users are done creating the story, press the down arrow to save on the camera roll, or the center arrow to share. Users are able to send a direct message to any friends, post to a timeline or add to a Story.[11]
The top row options and the blue camera icon in the bottom right corner give you two access points for those different story formats. However, when you click the blue camera icon, you can also take pictures or record videos, boomerangs or Facebook live videos.
Update Having said all that, on the mobile version of the website, facebook does serve complete video/audio files, so if you get the URL for the Story from the desktop site, e.g change it to the mobile website version by replacing "www" with "m"i.e
Now it seems that the section will be removed from the main Page, and shifted to a secondary element, with users able to tap through on an 'Additional information' prompt or tab to read more about the story behind your brand.
I recently learned that Facebook Marketplace is the world’s second-largest marketplace, in terms of monthly active users, behind only Amazon. It’s ahead of Alibaba, Walmart, eBay, Taobao, and has quietly left the once-unconquerable Craigslist in the dust. For years, I’ve been curious to learn what it took to make Facebook Marketplace work, when so many local marketplaces (including Facebook’s previous attempts) have failed. There is no better human alive to tell this story than Deb Liu, and below, for the first time, Deb shares the story behind Facebook Marketplace.
I pitched the idea for Facebook Marketplace in 2009, when Sheryl Sandberg interviewed me for a Product Marketing role at Facebook (aka Meta). We didn’t start working on Marketplace until 2015, however. Five years after launch, the Marketplace Tab on Facebook now has over a billion monthly active users, more than Snapchat and Twitter combined. The story behind it is well-known within the company but has rarely been publicly documented in detail . . . until now.
Generally speaking, stories are watched as a way to get entertained. Humor is extremely well perceived of course, though a significant proportion of users are also expecting to learn something from watching stories. This means you should make sure your story really brings value to your customers.

Facebook was limiting distribution of the Post's main story while its outside fact-checkers reviewed the claims, spokesman Andy Stone said. That means the platform's algorithms won't place posts linking to the story as highly in people's news feeds, reducing the number of users who see it. However, the story has still been liked, shared or commented on almost 600,000 times on Facebook, according to data from CrowdTangle, a research tool owned by the social network.
Stone said Facebook sometimes takes this step if it sees "signals" that something gaining traction is false, to give fact-checkers time to evaluate the story before it spreads widely. He did not give more detail on what signals Facebook uses or how often it takes this approach.
If a user clicks on links already posted on Twitter, the user is taken to a warning screen saying, "this link may be unsafe," which they have to click past to read the story. Twitter also required the New York Post to delete its tweet about the story.
"Our story explains where the info came from, and a Senate committee now confirms it also received the files from the same source," the editorial said. "Yet Facebook and Twitter are deliberately trying to keep its users from reading and deciding for themselves what it means."
"This story is a microcosm of something that I think we can expect to happen a lot over the next few weeks and, I think, demonstrates why platforms having clear policies that they are prepared to stick to is really important," said Evelyn Douek, a Harvard Law School lecturer who studies the regulation of online speech.
Trump tweeted that it was "[s]o terrible that Facebook and Twitter took down the story," although Facebook did not remove it from its platform. "REPEAL SECTION 230!!!" he wrote, referring to a long-standing legal shield that protects online platforms from being sued over what people post on them and says they can't be punished for reasonable moderation of those posts. Trump has repeatedly called for Section 230 to be revoked.
3. You can change who your story is shared with. Select the gear icon. On the web, you'll find it at the top left, next to the Your Story heading. On your phone, it's in the lower left and labeled "Privacy." Choose who you want to share your story with, such as "Public," "Friends," or "Custom." If you choose Custom, you can share the story with specific people only. Click "Save."
In addition to the usual kinds of stories, you can add items from your news feed to a story as well. To do that, tap "Share" under a post in your news feed and then choose "Share to Your Story." Depending upon their privacy level, not all news items can be shared.
The number of daily active Facebook story users is 500 million. Mark Zuckerberg reveals this number in his earnings call, where he also stated that stories are perfect for advertisers. See for yourself.
In August of 2016, Instagram launched the story option on its platform. And not too far behind, we see Facebook launching the story option in March 2017. At first, no one wanted to use stories. People were actually complaining about it. This just goes to show you that any successful business can go through a rough spot, but if you push through, you just might see the fruit of your trials.
Because story ads are much cheaper than feed ads, many advertisers are making the switch to story ads, resulting in a decline in the general price per ad! Even Facebook is encouraging advertisers to use story ads over feed ads and was teaching and coaching advertisers on how to use them best for their business.
To add a custom link to your story, click on the link icon on the right side of your screen, and type in your custom URL. A tool that is free for custom URLs is Rebrandly. You can use this tool to shorten, brand, and track every link you create and share on your social media channels.
The perfect Facebook story dimensions and recommended dimensions are 1080 x 1920 pixels, with a minimum resolution of 600 x 1067 pixels. Follow these simple rules, and you should be good to go.

While I am able to upload videos to my Facebook News Feed, when I click the button to add a video to a Facebook Story, a directory window opens but the video MP4 files are dimmed out and unelectable. Why is this and what can I do to upload my 5 second video to a create a FB story? When I click the plus sign on the My Story image at the top of my News Feed, I am presented with two boxes. One says "Upload a photo" and the other says "Upload text." Where is the box that says "Upload a video?"
