When I attended the Orchid Expo, at the plant division booth, they were using and recommending a specific pot. I didn't get the distributor of the pots. Can you provide a place where I can obtain these pots. Thank You

I hate to say it, but as show chair I had no time to actually check out the demonstration at the division booth. But my experience is that orchids can be grown in any pot that has adequate drainage. If you can describe the pot, I will be more likely to provide a link to a place to purchase them. Differences in pots cause differences in the rapidity of drying of the media as well as the aeration of the media and consequently the longevity of the potting media. The more drainage the better.

Again, if you can describe the pot, I will be more likely to provide a source. Additionally we will have vendors of potting supplies at our upcoming Orchids in the Park (San Francisco County Fair Building, July 25-25, 10am-5pm). I will email the chair of that group and see what he says aas well.

It's difficult to describe. The gentleman at the booth didn't know where to obtain them but said you could buy them at the show. Unfortunately I didn't get any. The post came in various sizes. They were solid green color, with a raised perforated cone in the middle and about 1/4 inch slits in the  bottom of the pot. That's about all I can remember. I have looked at many seller online and could not find anything that looked like these. I found similar ones but not these.

Here are two websites you might take a look at:

Unfortunately I can only seem to find that style of pot in clear plastic. Clear plastic pots have become very popular among orchid growers because you can easily see the health of the roots, and it enables the roots to photosynthesize (as many orchid roots do). This shape of pot does assure that drainage is optimal, and allows free air movement to the roots. They are not essential, and certainly you can grow orchids well without them. But they do help avoid the problems of roots staying too wet, or suffering for lack of fresh air.
