Dear Orchard Collective Scotland member

In case you haven't already heard through other channels already...

Common Good Food and Helping Britain Blossom would like to send a special invitation to take part in our Seed and Tree Festival on Saturday 6th February in Glasgow. Taking place at the St Francis Centre, this will be a day of celebrating food for the common good, and looking at how we can preserve and improve seed and tree diversity in Scotland.

Tickets and further information are available now on our Eventbrite page. Highlights confirmed so far include Neil Munro, director of the Heritage Seed Library talking about their work in preserving and promoting seed diversity; a fruit tree grafting workshop from orchard expert Andrew Lear; and a wassailing procession to the nearby Gorbals Rose Garden Orchard, including singing, lantern making, and mulled apple juice!

An exciting and inspiring event for all the family, this will also be a great opportunity to meet other groups and individuals working in food and environmental activism in Scotland. We have a number of ways organisations and community groups can be involved that we thought you might be interested in:
  • Share your views on development of Orchard Collective Scotland - we have an open space in the morning 11.20am-1pm dedicated to talking about the future of the Orchard Collective Scotland, how network is managed, how we communicate, how we organise events etc.  All welcome to join this discussion.
  • Have a stall at our lunchtime market - would you like to promote your organisation and activities? Or perhaps you have plants, food or another related product to sell? We are expected 100+ participants at the event and have plenty of space at the venue for stalls during our morning and lunchtime breaks. Organisations can have one free ticket for the daytime for a stall-holder, with additional tickets available for only £5 (which includes lunch). There will also be the opportunity to take part in the workshops, activities and discussions taking place throughout the day.  Stall holders can set up at 9am or from 11am.  To book a stall please contact: he...@commongoodfood.org
  • Take part in our Seed Swap - Common Good Food's Seed Kist will be making a reappearance at the event, sharing open pollinated and heritage seed varieties to grow this year. We're inviting community growers to bring along their own seeds to swap and share, taking part in what we hope will grow into a bigger seed network for Scotland in the future…
  • Share news about your orchard - we have a half hour slot at 2pm for orchard projects to share a 5 minute update on what they've been up to over the last year, please book your slot with Clem (cleme...@theurbanorchardproject.org)
  • Share our event with your networks - we'd greatly appreciate it if you could let your members or networks know about the Seed and Tree Festival - we're a volunteer organising team, and word of mouth can go a long way! We have a facebook event here that you can share, a poster attached below, or you can share this link on twitter, your website or any newsletters you may have going out soon - www.seedtreefest.eventbrite.co.uk
Please get in touch if you need any further info.  Wishing you all a fruitful year!

Best wishes,

Clem Sandison
